Sachin: A Billion Dreams released today and Sachin fans cannot get over the movie. This documentary is strictly for Sachin fans as it only recognises the sacrifice and staunchness of his 24 year long career. The director James Erskine , has placed every detail of his positive attitude and shiny stardom meticulously. The continous chants of ‘Sachin…Sachin…’ brings chills down our spine. Erskine is an Emmy award-winner who had a little access to the star’s life. He potrayed every ounce of his personal life including his refusal to changing diapers of his children, his wife’s sacrifice to leave her career as a doctor only to support him, his coach’s strength, his family, his friends, his teammates. The lead character is played by The Man himself. The movie also features Anjali Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag, M S Dhoni, Arjun Tendulkar.
It creates an era of love and passion by the people of the country for him. But the documentary fails to touch the topics of failures, match-fixings, broken friendships, injury and all the negative incidents that happened along. It only focuses on the positive part and thus it is a story of triumph, hard work and perseverance for his fans but not for the critics. The narrative binds the audience and nobody feels excluded.
The movie aptly sums up the love for cricket and SACHIN.
